Motivational quotes are a great starting point to get inspired, but inspiration without action does not lead to empowerment or change. We need to bridge the gap between our inspired minds and taking action.

For this reason, each quote below is paired with “why it works” and “How to take action.”

Motivational Quote 1

“The thing Has No Power – You Do!” – Chris Weiler

This is my daily mantra for life. In our tech driven society we love to give our power for personal change and meeting objectives to our pods, pads and phones. Slap that Staples “Easy” button and all your office supply needs will be met.

Regarding physical development, there are no magical exercises, fitness equipment or fat burning food – it’s a myth! Stop drinking the Kool-Aid!
There is no magic bullet or any external that has the ability to give you anything until it is qualified by its application. The magic is in “How” you apply the tools you use. And that is a result of how you manage your mind, body and heart. Your intent and how you convert that intent to action determines the likelihood of your success.

Why it works…
It’s equivalent to taking “the red pill” from the movie The Matrix. In The Matrix, the main character Neo, takes “the red pill” to see the real world he lives in. A ravaged wasteland where most of humanity has been captured by a race of machines that imprison their minds within an artificial reality known as the Matrix. Many of us are conditioned through marketing, advertising and media to believe that our power for personal change comes from without, when in reality it comes from within. “The thing Has No Power – You Do” helps us remember where the true power for personal change exists.

How to take action…
Each day, take one, small, actionable step towards your objective. This is how the magic happens.
With pen/pencil and paper, take about 1 minute and write down your action step over and over until you fill the page. Then, get up and do it!

Motivational Quote 2

Don’t talk, Don’t think, Just Do – Now! – Chris Weiler

For those that don’t already “Do” there is often a physical, mental and/or emotional resistance point. As such, many of these people spend a lot of time in the thinking, planning, and “knowing they should” stages, but often fail to take meaningful action long enough to effect behavioral changes.

The right advice, shoes, clothes, equipment and exercise plans lay there powerless to do anything until you take action, put one foot in front of the other and Do! This also reinforces my first quote –
“The thing Has No Power – You Do!”

Why it works…
Doing is real, nourishes the pleasure centers of the brain and is the only tangible evidence we have that we have actually created something. This gives internal meaning to our lives and creates momentum, which makes it easier to Do again.

How to take action…
Each day, take one, small, actionable step towards your objective. This is how the magic happens.
With pen/pencil and paper, take about 1 minute and write down your action step over and over until you fill the page. Then, get up and do it!

Motivational Quote 3

Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass..It’s learning how to dance in the rain! – Vivian Greene

Many of us are so busy trying to live according to some scripted life, we forget we are the authors of our own destiny. Life is frequently unstable and there are few perfect times to do anything. As such, it is up to each individual to decide how he wants to live regardless of circumstances.

Why it works…
This perspective helps break the conditioned mind of how things are supposed to work. It empowers you to recognize that you have the pen in your hand and can being to write the next chapter of your life at any time.

How to take action…
I call this “Check Your Mind.” At any given moment while acting/reacting to anything or anyone Check Your Mind to discover what you think or feel (how you react) and determine if you like it or not. If not, decide how you will think, act and/or speak differently next time. These are tiny course corrections plotted in the sub-conscious mind which ultimately enable you to navigate to destinations you want and achieve your personal objectives.

Motivational Quote 4

The important thing is this: To be able at any moment to sacrifice what we are for what we could become. – Charles DuBois (1882 – 1939)

This is the leap of faith quote. Do you have the courage to let go of aspects of your conditioned life, what you know, is predictable and are comfortable with to imagine and take steps towards being greater?

Why it works…
This type of internal flexibility is very empowering. Great confidence is developed when one leaves the security of what is known to blaze a new trail in the unknown.

How to take action…
Each day, take one, small, actionable step that scares you. This is how the magic happens.
With pen/pencil and paper, take about 1 minute and write down your action step over and over until you fill the page. Then, get up and do it!
Check Your Mind to discover how you think and feel in different situations and then decide how you will do it differently. It could be making that phone call, saying no/yes to that person or walking down the street without your face in your mobile tech and smiling and saying “Hi” to each person you see.
